Approved car park operators, consultation on new scheme to introduce new operator scheme.

Posted: 10th December 2018

A consultation on the introduction of an Approved Operator Scheme for car park operators at Edinburgh Airport has now opened.

Views are being sought on the possible introduction of the scheme which is intended to:

  • Ensure a minimum standard of customer service and quality standards
  • Identify suitable areas within the airport for operators to work in, enhancing passenger experience
  • Provide customers with confidence and allow them to make informed choices

The airport has looked at similar schemes in place at Gatwick and Manchester airports, with the former being highlighted as good practice by regulator, the Civil Aviation Authority.

Benefits to operators for being in the scheme included reduced fees for accessing airport facilities and recognition on the airport website as an approved operator.

Judy George, Head of Property and Commercial Transport said:

“Providing passenger with a positive experience is clearly key to our strategy at the airport and that means everything from ease of check-in to catering and car park operators. By providing them with approved operators, it gives them confidence in who they are booking with and allows them to make an informed choice.

“It’s a new scheme for Edinburgh and we’re the first airport in Scotland to be considering this so it’s important that we gather feedback and views from people. The consultation runs until February 8 and I would encourage people with an interest in the scheme to read through the consultation and provide feedback before then.”

The consultation is open until 1700 on Friday 8 February, 2019: www.edinburghairport.com/approvedoperatorscheme
