Adaptable rural living development opportunity at the heart of Cardross conservation village is brought to market

Posted: 9th March 2020

A rare opportunity to buy a stunning, scenic and easily accessible residential building plot on the former Bloomhill estate in Cardross has been brought to the market by rural property agents, Baird Lumsden.

The 0.41 acres plot has planning consent for two semi-detached single-storey two-bedroom cottage-style homes with a pitched roof, orientated towards the Main Road.

The planned building has been designed in keeping with the surrounding heritage and character of the area and is of local vernacular design. It is to be finished with smooth render, timber windows and doors under a natural slate roof. Materials have already been agreed with the local council.

Originally conceived for disabled occupants, the cottages have been designed to allow for level access and are perfect for those requiring adaptable housing, however there are no occupancy restrictions.

Jennifer Campbell, rural property specialist at Baird Lumsden, said: “This unique site, set on the historic Bloomhill estate, originally came to fruition through a development partnership with the military charity SVGCA (Houses for Heroes Scotland).

“While it is now available on the open market, all parties continue to see it as an ideal site for a “community within a community”. And while there are no occupancy restrictions, the cottages are clearly going to provide two wonderful homes for individuals, families or companies who may require properties suitable for adaptable living in a highly convenient but stunningly scenic location.”

In summary, the plot at Main Street, Cardross presents a remarkable opportunity for adaptable living in a thriving community. Offers over £100,000 are invited.
