Aberdein Considine hires senior private client lawyer

Posted: 9th December 2019

A leading Scottish private client solicitor has switched firms to join Aberdein Considine.

Aileen Entwistle has left Anderson Strathern to join the rapidly-expanding legal firm as a Partner, and she will be supporting clients across the central belt.

She specialises in a wide range of private client practice areas, particularly Wills, Powers of Attorney and Inheritance Tax planning for high net-worth individuals.

She also has specific expertise in Executry Administration and Trusts for both private and charity clients.

Her appointment is the latest in a lateral hiring spree which has seen Aberdein Considine strengthen its private client and family law teams throughout the country.

With 19 offices and a headcount of just under 500, the firm is now one of the country’s largest – and following a number of acquisitions has been heavily focussed on expanding its legal teams and specialisms.

Managing Partner, Jacqueline Law, said Aileen’s appointment was an important one as the firm shapes up to meet the future needs of its clients.

“Aileen is highly respected in what is an increasingly demanding area of law,” she said.

“In the years to come, Scotland will experience the greatest transfer of personal wealth in its history as the baby boomer generation seeks to prudently transfer wealth and assets to the next generation.

“As a firm that offers property, legal and financial advice together, we are well placed to help clients navigate what can be a complex maze of taxation and trust law.

“Therefore, private client work is growing at a significant pace for the firm, and Aileen will be a huge asset to both Aberdein Considine and our clients.

Aileen graduated with an LLB(Hons)Law from the University of Strathclyde in 2002, and having completed her Diploma in Legal Practice in 2003, she has focused primarily on private client work during the past 15 years.

She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), and also a Notary Public.

Aileen is dual qualified in Scotland and England.

Commenting on her appointment she said: “Aberdein Considine already has a fantastic reputation within the private client sector and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to help the firm grow. I’m also looking forward to supporting our clients when and where they need us.”

Nineteen of the firm’s lawyers were ranked and received personal recommendations in the 2020 edition of the Legal 500. The firm itself is ranked across eight practice areas and for the fifth year running has been awarded coveted “Top Tier” status. The accolade is in the field of Debt Recovery, with the firm also recognised for its Corporate and Commercial law, Commercial Real Estate, Commercial Litigation, Dispute Resolution, Employment Law and Family Law work. Ruth Aberdein, Head of Family Law was named among Legal 500’s “Legal Individuals”.
