Spring is the time of rebirth and inspiration, and 2018 brought with it a new chapter for Mearns & Company, with our founder Margaret Mearns moving into a new position of Chairman within the company, and retiring from her Managing Director and Chartered Financial Planner positions.  Catherine Bell was appointed as our Managing Director in January this year.   Catherine has worked with Mearns & Company for over 17 years, previously leading our Business Support team as Operations Director.  Catherine looks forward to leading the company into the future, maintaining our culture and dedicated client focus, while building on the strong foundations that Margaret has built over the last 24 years.

This Spring sees growth in our Corporate team with the addition of our new Employee Benefits Consultant Sharon Marshall on the 1st of March.  Sharon is CII Diploma qualified and has several years of experience advising small, medium and large corporate clients on aspects of their Group Healthcare (UK and International), Group Risk and Cash plans, and developing relationships with long standing clients.  Prior to working in employee benefits Sharon worked as a self-employed Financial Adviser.  We look forward to working with Sharon and are delighted to welcome her to Mearns & Company.

We have developed a real skill in our Corporate team for making significant cost savings for our corporate clients, and we were delighted to achieve an annual saving this Spring of approximately £75,000 for a recently onboarded London based corporate client.  This saving equates to approximately 30% of their annual insured employee benefits spend, and to add more good news into the mix we achieved an enhanced benefit package for our client, despite the significant cost savings.  Needless to say, this new client is delighted with what we have achieved for them, and our Corporate team is equally delighted!
