Central Taxis Covid-19 Fleet
Dear Customer,
We would be obliged if you could circulate this letter throughout your organisation to all staff that use our service.
As lockdown measures begin to ease and we hopefully start to see a return to a new normal we would like to share some useful information regarding Central Taxis new processes to reassure you when planning transport for your staff and customers as workplaces begin to reopen.
As a business we recognise that it is vital we provide our customers and staff with as high a level of protection as possible to minimise the risk of infection and support the Government and NHS in their efforts to battle COVID-19.
We have taken the decision to invest in new products and technology to clean and sanitise our vehicles going forward.
We now have two Ozone Sanitisation Systems at our depot which will be used to regularly deep clean vehicles in our fleet. Ozone has been found to reduce viruses and other bacteria in vehicles by 99.9% with the use of gas allowing the sanitisation of parts of the vehicle it would normally be difficult to access.
In association with Supagard Ltd we have also taken stock of hygiene kits which will be rolled out to our fleet from today and this will include:
- Hygiene Surface Cleaner
- Hand Sanitiser
- Air Freshener
Our Drivers will continue to use these to wipe down all touch points after every journey which in combination with our internal security partition, contactless/contract payment and automatic doors should allow for minimal risk to passengers and staff.
We recommend that when booking a taxi, you continue to follow Government advise on group travel, only taking necessary journeys and not travelling if you feel unwell. Please note it’s is now a mandatory requirement that all passengers wear a face covering unless they are exempt.

COVID-19 Fleet
As you may be aware in partnership with NHS Lothian, Central Taxis are now operating a designated fleet of vehicles for the transport of those requiring a COVID -19 test, or those who begin showing symptoms in the workplace. These vehicles can be used by any of our customers as required. The vehicles are ring fenced for these journeys only and are given a full chemical deep clean after each shift, all touchpoints are wiped down ongoing and drivers carried out his duty in full medical PPE. The passenger will also be asked to wear a mask and one can be supplied by the driver if required.
