What is Europe Direct?
Europe Direct, Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce, is part of an official European Commission network of information relays, with over 400 Europe Direct Centres spread throughout the European Union.
Our main centre locally is based in Capital House and managed by the Projects and Partnerships team. It has the role of improving the flow of European information to citizens (especially via businesses) in the capital of one of Europe's best small countries.
Aims
The main objectives of the Europe Direct network are to:
- enable local citizens to obtain information, advice, assistance and answers to questions about the European Union's institutions, legislation, policies, programmes and funding opportunities;
- actively promote local and regional debate about the European Union and its policies;
- allow the European institutions to improve the dissemination of information tailored to local and regional needs;
- give the public the opportunity to send feedback to the European Union institutions in the form of questions, opinions and suggestions.
Services
Edinburgh Chamber's Europe direct relay is a newly established information relay. Services which will be developed and provided will include transnational partner searches, advice on funding programmes and making applications and claims, disseminating information on the European Union's policies and programmes through various publications, seminars, conferences and responses to individual requests for specific information.
