Chamber members in the tourism sector have been prominent in calling for a new approach to the way we promote, maintain and develop the Royal Mile, the historic heart of our Old Town. The City of Edinburgh Council recently held a planning 'charette' or consultation on the issue, and the outcomes and recommendations are in the attached document. Dear Tourism Policy Group,
As you may have heard, the Tourism Minister Fergus Ewing declared at the ETAG conference last week the proposed Bed Tax on hotels in the city of Edinburgh exists no longer, as the link below to an article from yesterday's Evening News confirms. This is a victory for sensible lobbying from Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce and the focus will now turn to the potential for Tourism Business Investment District (BID).
