Retail Policy Group
The purpose of the Retail Policy Group is to promote business development within the retail sector of Edinburgh. It works to ensure that issues facing retail businesses in the city centre are highlighted and addressed.
Members include representatives from many of Edinburgh's leading retail outlets, from boutique entrepreneurs to major city-based brands and malls. The group meets quarterly to discuss all aspects of the local retail environment, covering topics such as traffic management, car parking availability, seasonal promotions, trading hours, etc.
One of the major issues currently on the policy group's agenda is the marketing of the city over the festive season. On this topic, the group is liaising with DEMA and Open for Business with the aim of ensuring that the needs of the city's retailers are taken into account in the formation of upcoming campaigns.
