Business Protection Policy Group

We run the Business Protection Policy Group in partnership with Lothian and Borders Police. The aim of the group is to share intelligence and offer practical advice to businesses large and small across Edinburgh.

Our Mission is to adopt a collaborative approach towards protection of business assets through shared communication of best practice, skills and training.

The Business protection policy group works to keep businesses safe and in the know about Security and Crime; to do this we work in close partnership with the Lothian and Borders Police Service. We deal with a wide variety of safety and security issues in business.

Our aim to keep Edinburgh, and in a wider sense the country, as well-informed as possible, so that businesses know the law - what it requires of them, how to ensure your company's safety, and what to do should the worst happen.

We aim to do this by focussing on the following key areas:

• Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery
• Physical Security -buildings, CCTV, IT etc
• People - staff and customer welfare, Health and Safety and internal threats

The group has a wide ranging membership covering various business sectors influenced by these matters both as service providers and as internal planners, public sector organisations and City of Edinburgh Council. The group has made useful contributions to Edinburgh's Resilience events, backed public information events and brokered many assistive consultations for member companies on issues of concern.
