Our policy and campaigns work

The Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce seeks to influence policy at local and national level to create the best possible conditions for business.

The Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce has a long tradition of representing its members concerns to the City of Edinburgh Council, and, over the past decade, the Scottish Parliament, enabling it to influence local and national government decisions.

The Chamber works to maintain its reputation as 'the honest broker' across a range of issues of concern to the business community: the more members communicate with us about the current environment for doing business, the better we are able to lobby on their behalf.

Edinburgh Chamber members can express views directly to senior executives in the Chamber and have them passed on to all levels of government as we influence the running of our City and our country.

We keep members informed of how legislation and local planning decisions will affect them. This is done through this website, through themed meetings, training offerings and our magazine.

Where necessary we forge coalitions with other Chambers of Commerce and organisations to present matters of common concern.

Policy groups

The Chamber's policy groups are an important aspect of building positions on important matters affecting business. Our groups allow members to exchange information and views on matters of common interest.
