Business protection advice available through Edinburgh Chamber

Lothian and Borders Police have a dedicated Business Protection Liaison Officer, Sergeant Gill McMurray, on a one year secondment with the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce, to reinforce the mutual understanding between the business community and the police in preventing and tackling issues related to business crime.
Gill has 12 years service with Lothian and Borders Police. She has worked in a variety of roles including, CID, Violent Crime Unit, Livingston Town Centre Policing Unit and Media Relations, and she has experience of working in both Edinburgh and West Lothian.
She is based at Edinburgh Chamber's Capital House office, on Festival Square in Edinburgh, and is happy to listen to any issues around business continuity and security concerning the business community. She will be working to create better links for police involvement in advising businesses, and her move to the post of Business Protection Liaison Officer signals a continuing commitment on the part of Lothian and Borders Police to its' partnership with the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce.
Gill's main role is to listen to the issues concerning businesses and to provide advice and contacts to assist in minimising crime and risk wherever possible. Protecting real and virtual assets is vital in strengthening business resilience and the following are a few key areas in which Gill is able to provide help and assistance.
- Financial crime and fruad - internal and external threats
- Physical security - premises, CCTV, secure-by-design
- Theft - shoplifting and internal thefts
- National security - looking at threats, continuity planning and information sharing
