Edinburgh Airport starts new charity partnership with Erskine as charity of 2015

Posted: 18th March 2015

Edinburgh Airport has chosen Erskine as its corporate charity partner for 2015 after a vote by airport staff. Erskine is one of the leading care organisations for veterans in Scotland and since 1916 has provided unrivalled nursing, respite and dementia care for ex-service men and women with their five care homes in Scotland.

Each year, Scotland’s busiest airport works with different charities, raising funds and awareness of various organisations. In 2014, the airport worked with Scottish Autism and Unicef, raising over £10,000 during the course of the year. David Wilson, Chief Operating Officer at Edinburgh Airport, and ex-serviceman, said: “We’re delighted to announce that Erskine will be our corporate charity of the year in 2015. “Being an ex-serviceman myself, Erskine is a charity very close to my heart. With numerous fundraising activities and corporate events throughout the year, we’re sure we can raise a lot of money for this very worthy charity.“As an airport we’re committed to supporting our local community and in 2006 we established our Community Board to contribute to local projects and initiatives. Each year we award approximately £100,000 in funding to various worthy causes.”

Shona Langlands, Erskine Community Fundraiser for the East, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen as the charity partner for Edinburgh Airport in 2015. “Together we are working on some great fundraising ideas and our veterans, particularly those in our Edinburgh home in Gilmerton, are really excited. “This partnership will not only raise much needed funds for Erskine but raise awareness of the vital work we do caring for veterans in Scotland.”
