End of Year Tram Update

A key milestone for the project has been reached with the completion and handover of the tram depot at Gogar on 16th December. An event was held there yesterday to mark the contractors passing ownership of the depot to the City of Edinburgh Council. The handover event was attended by the Scottish Government Transport Minister Keith Brown, Leader of City of Edinburgh Council Jenny Dawe, Chief Executive, Sue Bruce as well as representatives from Transport Scotland, Bilfinger Berger, Siemens, CAF, Turner Townsend, Lothian Buses and the German and Spanish consulates. The tram depot and stabling yards will in due course be home to the entire tram fleet and will also act as the network control centre when the service goes live in 2014. Another significant milestone took place at the depot earlier in the week when the first tram ran on the test track. This event gained a lot of media coverage and highlights the good progress being made on the project since work resumed a few months back.

Overall Client Target Programme We are sending you this special stakeholder update to inform you that the City of Edinburgh Council today (6 December 2011) published the Overall Client Target Programme (attached) which sets out key future milestones for the delivery of the Edinburgh Tram Project. Please find a copy attached. This programme includes a summary of works along key sections of the route from the Airport to York Place in the city centre with a schedule detailing traffic management measures and road and track works, installation of overhead lines and power cables and electrification works.

Arrival of Giant Pandas

Arrival date for pandas set for 4th December I am delighted to announce that we will be receiving TianTian and Yang Guang, our Giant Pandas on 4th December. This is news that we know you have been waiting for and we are absolutely thrilled that they will be here with us so soon. Although they will be arriving at the beginning of December, they will not be on show to the public until 16th December. This is to allow the pandas time to settle in after their journey and ensure they are completely comfortable with their new surroundings.
