RSA Corporate Membership

Posted: 21st May 2018

The Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture’s (RSA) Corporate Membership programme offers a unique insight into Scotland’s contemporary art and architectural scene while also providing a range of hospitality and networking opportunities in the heart of Edinburgh.

“As the only dedicated fine art insurer in Scotland, AXA ART is delighted to have been a corporate member of the Royal Scottish Academy for the past three years. The New Contemporaries Exhibition is always a highlight of the year and gives us the opportunity to meet new clients as well entertaining our own. The Friend’s Room is a great place to catch up for a coffee, a little known gem in the heart of the Capital”.

James McDowell, Senior Underwriter
AXA ART Insurance

The RSA was founded in 1826 and is housed in one of Edinburgh’s most iconic buildings. As an independent charity, the RSA receives no local or national government funding, instead relying on self-generated income, bequests, individual supporters and corporate sponsorship and membership.

The Academy’s main aim is to support the creation, enjoyment and understanding of contemporary art and architecture in Scotland. We run a year round programme of exhibitions and awards and have a unique collection of Scottish Art that dates from 1780s to present day. All this enables us to not only support artists and architects at all stages of their careers, but also ensures that Edinburgh’s citizens and visitors to the city have access to works by some of the nation’s most creative individuals.

We work closely with our corporate supporters to ensure that their business needs are met through opportunities for brand exposure; access to visitors, supporters and art buyers; and the chance to host unique events for staff, clients and business networks.

Corporate Members will have the opportunity to engage with our programme of events and exhibitions. One of our annual highlights the New Contemporaries exhibition which brings together works from the finest emerging artists and architects selected from Scottish degree shows. This year’s exhibition showcased the work of 63 graduates from the 2017 degree shows, demonstrating the RSA’s commitment to supporting and presenting the best contemporary work in Scotland.

Forthcoming exhibitions include: the Open Exhibition, drawing from artists across Scotland and beyond; North West Passage by Barbara Rae CBE RA RSA, in conjunction with the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in London; and Shelter Stone – The Artist and the Mountain. All these will offer a variety of ways for your company to engage with the exciting contemporary art scene in Scotland.

Benefits of becoming a Corporate Member include: sought after tickets to our Private Views, free exhibition passes, tickets to events, discounted room and gallery hire and the opportunity to design your own Insight Event; a bespoke event that gives our Corporate Members insight into an aspect of the RSA and visual arts in Scotland. These events can be used for staff engagement, networking or corporate hospitality and offer a unique backdrop for entertainment.
