Upskill and reskill your workforce with Edinburgh College

Posted: 19th February 2018

Edinburgh College is supporting the development of Scottish businesses by providing an opportunity to upskill and reskill your workforce with up to £10,000-worth of training.

The Flexible Workforce Development Fund (FWDF), developed by the Scottish Government and Scottish Funding Council, enables businesses to apply for money towards the cost of training and developing your workforce.

The fund gives levy-paying employers an opportunity to give employees access to the flexible training and skills development opportunities available at the college.

The college delivers a wide range of training programmes in areas including Health and Safety, Gas, Electrical, Sport and Fitness, Construction, Creative Industries, Hospitality and Business.

It is currently working with apprenticeship levy-paying businesses across Edinburgh to develop training programmes to suit their business needs. Ongoing work includes helping a local manufacturing company to introduce a health-and-safety culture across its organisation by supporting up to 40 operators and supervisors in gaining IOSH Working Safely and Supervising Safely qualifications; aiding a major engineering company in developing its management skills through an ILM Award in Leadership and Management; and working with a third-sector organisation to upskill its workforce with digital skills and IT training.

Edinburgh College head of Commercial Development Jane Grant said: “At Edinburgh College we’re providing a service to meet the training needs of Scotland’s businesses. The Flexible Workforce Development Fund gives employers an opportunity to put employees through courses which will enhance their skills and address skills gaps. I’d encourage eligible local businesses to get in touch to find out more about the opportunities available to them. ”
