Andrew Kerr discusses his vision for Scotland’s capital with business leaders
On Friday 13 January Andrew Kerr, CEO of the City of Edinburgh Council gave an informative and comprehensive presentation on the latest developments in Edinburgh.
His vision for an inclusive, entrepreneurial, innovative and vibrant City certainly captured our imagination. The 80+ members enjoyed being inspired around the City Vision 2050 – log on to the Council’s 2050 Vision website to have your input to how our City will look and feel in 2050.
The four key areas of focus for the City Vision are:
- connected city – shared spaces and digital capacity;
- inspired city with ingenuity, culture, education and innovation;
- fair city where divisions are removed with a good quality of life for all and finally
- thriving city – with a strong economy, skilled workforces and high living standards.
The City Deal, which is expected to be announced in March 2017, will bring over £1.5bn of value to the City for infrastructure projects, cultural support and help to drive inclusivity for the citizens here in Edinburgh. Healthcare, Education and Infrastructure are high priority areas that are being addressed.
Linking commerce with public office remains at the heart of your Chamber’s role and we hope this event has set the scene for even more collaboration in 2017 and beyond.
