Dispute and insolvency specialist to spearhead Blackadders’ Glasgow growth

Posted: 26th September 2016

Blackadders are pleased to announce the appointment of Stephanie Carr.

Stephanie Carr will take up the role of leading Blackadders’ Glasgow office after 15 years with Harper Macleod, where she served as a partner in the insolvency department specialising in contentious personal and corporate insolvency law.

With many years’ experience in commercial litigation and debt recovery, Stephanie is a member of the Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers (ARDL) and is accredited as a specialist in Insolvency Law by the Law Society of Scotland.

Her appointment underlines Blackadders’ commitment to growing its presence in Glasgow and the West of Scotland. The firm acquired well-known Glasgow law practice Boyle Shaughnessy in April 2016, in addition to opening offices in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Perth.

The firm now has 26 partners and over 250 staff across the country, its growth securing the Best Newcomer Award at the 2016 Scottish Business Insider Awards as well as catapulting it to number 142 in the latest SME300 listings.

Stephanie said she was looking forward to the challenge of growing the firm’s business in Glasgow.

It’s an exciting time of growth for the firm. My new role will be focused on building on the diverse client base already established here and using my 15 years’ experience of practising law in Glasgow to ensure their dispute resolution needs can now be met in house.

I believe the market is receptive to a respected Scottish firm such as Blackadders expanding in the west coast, and fully expect that within a reasonably short period of time we can strengthen the brand in the business community by delivering exceptional service and expertise to individuals.”

Johnston Clark, Managing Partner of Blackadders, said: “Recruiting Stephanie is a coup and a further statement of intent about our intention to strengthen our presence in Scotland’s major cities. We have a focused business plan that has put us in a position to offer a full range of legal services in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Perth and Glasgow.  Our transformation into a truly national firm provides increased strength and depth of service for clients and establishes a solid foundation for continued growth in the years ahead.”
