What level of card turnover is required to qualify?
It doesn't matter how much you process on card - Chamber Merchant Services includes preferred rates for all levels of card turnover, from small and start-up businesses to established, high card turnover, multiple outlet businesses. For high turnover businesses your circumstances will be assessed to ensure the most appropriate package is offered to suit your business needs. A complete terminal suite is available to suit all businesses, from Static, Bluetooth (restaurant style), Mobile or Virtual Terminals with rental costing as little as £13.95 + VAT per month.Can all businesses benefit?
All businesses who are members of the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce are eligible to apply. All applications are risk assessed before services are provided, and there are a very few categories where service may be denied or a higher tariff imposed due to their high risk profile. Chamber Merchant Services is provided by a world-leader in Card Acquiring technology and offers solutions to facilitate almost all Card Payment requirements. From your standard static face-to-face "Card Present" system, to mobile, unattended terminals and e-commerce/internet payment solutions.What is PCI DSS and what does it mean for my business?
PCI = Payment Card Industry, DSS = Data Security StandardPCI DSS is a single, worldwide framework which aims to protect cardholder information. PCI DSS is a compliance requirement that applies to all card scheme members; issuers, acquirers, merchants and service providers and must be validated on an annual basis.
Chamber Merchant Services includes PCI DSS Complete Solutions, which includes an online portal to guide you through this annual process. PCI DSS Complete Solutions also provides access to dedicated support staff and professional consultants for more complex businesses. Businesses without internet can also complete the compliance process over the phone.
What costs are involved?
Costs involved in accepting card payments vary dependant on your specific requirements. Example of 'typical' costs for a Chip & PIN terminal-based solution are as follows:- Terminal hire. This covers the equipment you will need to have on site in order to process credit and debit card payments. The terminals offered include Chip & PIN functionality and can be static, Bluetooth portable, or mobile. Chamber Merchant Services rates are from £13.95 + VAT per month.
- *Joining fees. These can differ dependant on your business but are FREE to chamber members signing up for a Chip and PIN terminal. A nominal fee of £50 is required for e-Commerce or Virtual Terminal accounts.
- Minimum Monthly charge. Many providers have a minimum charge each month on transaction costs. This has been WAIVED for Chamber members.
- Transaction Fees. You will be charged a small percentage of each transaction on Credit Cards and a flat rate charge for a debit card transaction. The rates for this vary depending on your total card turnover and Chamber Merchant Services offer preferential rates. In addition, authorisation fees on each transaction are waived.
