Export Cargo Shipping Instruction

Role

The role of the Export Cargo Shipping Instruction is to enable the exporter to provide the carrier and/or agent with absolute accurate details of the transaction, and give instruction as to what is required of them to enable the exporter to fulfill his obligations to the buyer.

The exporter cannot delegate responsibility for the accurate disclosure information and will always remain liable for any consequences directly or indirectly attributable to the provision of inaccurate information.

There are specific classifications for hazardous goods which help carriers and other parties recognize the dangerous or hazardous nature of the goods, exporters must be familiar with these classifications and ensure that their goods are correctly classified.
