Diane Biddle of First Class Ironing Services
First Class Ironing Services does exactly what it says on the tin! The company offers customers a high quality ironing service, with a free pick up and drop off service and, in most cases, ironing is returned within 24 hours. It aims to give customers a more hassle-free life by taking the ironing chore off their hands.
Diane Biddle set up First Class Ironing Services at the end of December 2004. She contacted NEBI as she had the idea of offering the service for a while and thought there was a market for it in North Edinburgh.
She needed help to work out what she needed to do to set the business up, plan how to promote the business and what she needed to do for keeping track of the money coming in and out.
Advisers helped with all of this, and helped to access funding so she could buy the right equipment and get leaflets and business cards printed. Diane also attended a number of the NEBI training courses including 'Dealing with the Inland Revenue (Self Employment)' and 'Basic Book-keeping for Business'.

Power Klean
James Orchard of Power Klean
Power Klean offers specialist power cleaning services for private homes, offices, garages and other commercial customers.
The jet wash system Power Klean uses provides a highly effective cleaning service for a whole range of outdoor surfaces (driveways, forecourts, patios and pathways, fencing, blockpaving, concrete, tarmac, walls, gutterings, coping stones and decking).
Power Klean also welcomes work to remove gum and grafitti, moss, algae and slippery slime build up. Hazard free detergents are always used.
James was unemployed when he first approached Alan Laing, North Edinburgh Enterprise Guide. He has worked closely with with NEBI advisers, while attending a Training for Work programme.
Our advisers helped him to thoroughly plan his business, work out how much it would need to make to be viable, and secure funding to help him get up and running. He's also attended NEBI training courses including a 'Basic Book-keeping for Business' course.
