Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Group
The Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Group is part of a national network of Chambers throughout Britain as well as in Scotland – supported by British and Scottish umbrella organisations, the British Chambers of Commerce and the Scottish Chambers of Commerce.
The Edinburgh Chamber Group currently comprises three distinct companies:
- Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce
- Edinburgh Business Development (EBD)
- Chamber Developments Ltd (CDL)
Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce
Formed by Royal Charter in 1786, the Chamber is a membership organisation and is one of the core Chambers in Scotland. It offers numerous services to its members, which currently sits at around 2000 businesses.
Through its comprehensive range of events and networking opportunities, members can develop their own networks and contacts, as well as promote their business. In addition to a wide range of benefits that are designed to save members money and help them grow their business, the Chamber represents the interests of its members at local, national and international levels through its links to Scottish, British and International Chambers of Commerce.
Edinburgh Business Development (EBD)
Scotland's leading enterprise trust, Edinburgh Business Development is a company limited by guarantee, with social aims.
It delivers award-winning economic development, business development, economic inclusion, regeneration and employability services, nationally and internationally. This includes the delivery of Business Gateway in the Edinburgh region, business incubators in several regeneration areas of the capital and ECTA (Edinburgh Community Technology Academy).
EBD is engaged in a wide range of European-funded and transnational partnership projects, which involve skills development, sharing of good practice approaches and influencing policy and practice at regional, national and international levels. Its main interest is in the development of a thriving economy in Edinburgh and Scotland as a whole. Its main functions are to help people into employment and self-employment and to support the growth and development of businesses.
Chamber Developments Ltd (CDL)
A wholly owned trading subsidiary, CDL is the Chamber's commercial trading arm, delivering a portfolio of consultancy, training, project management and white labelled services under the brand of Chamber Business Solutions.
Chamber Business Solutions (CBS) also adds value to members by assessing them and registering them as CBS Associates, enabling them to deliver specialist, quality services under the recognised chamber brand name.
CBS services are offered across the country to other chambers of commerce, enabling them to increase their attraction and relevance to businesses and generate additional revenues.
Also part of CDL is Edinburgh International Trade (EIT), which leads the way in the delivery of a comprehensive range of international trade services. EIT has developed market leading technology, systems and learning platforms that have world wide applications.
Edinburgh Chamber Group Offices
The Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Group has premises in a number of locations:
- Capital House in central Edinburgh is the Group head office and the Executive Team, parts of EBD and CDL, Membership, Events and Finance and Administration are located here.
- Craigmillar Business Incubator in Craigmillar heads up the business incubator work that EBD carries out. Part of the Business Gateway team and employability training services are located in this office.
- Also in Craigmillar is the Public Sector Training team, based at Haywired.
- Apex House in the West End of Edinburgh houses part of the Business Gateway team.
- The Edinburgh Community Technology Academy is based in Granton.
- The Community Employability Team are based in Pilton.
- In addition, the International Trade team members are based in Livingston and Dundee.
