Key Responsibilities: The co-ordination and delivery of our marketing strategy through effective communication with our member companies, partners and staff.
Responsible for leading our communications strategy, you will have a pivotal role in co-ordinating our communication with member companies, partners and staff. This is a unique opportunity for a marketing or communications graduate to develop our brand, and your career with us.
Key Tasks:
- The preparation and production of our marketing and communications strategy, up-dated annually.
- The production and editing of website content on www.edinburghchamber.co.uk
- The production of the members' magazine, Business Comment, according to agreed schedules and deadlines, in liaison with our publishers and contributors.
- The production and publication of our print and collateral materials for membership, marketing and events.
- The management and development of our brand, Inspiring Connections, in all online and offline marketing and communication materials.
- Liaison with members companies on website, database and marketing activities, including the management and analysis of members and company surveys and market intelligence.
- The promotion of member benefits and discount schemes through marketing, communication and PR activities.
Essential Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge:
- A flair for communication and a qualification in marketing, PR, publishing or related fields.
- Excellent knowledge of standard IT and database management packages, particularly Microsoft Word, Access and Sharepoint Server.
- A strategic perspective and, crucially, the ability to translate strategy into the delivery of action plans.
- Well developed communication skills, both written and oral, as well as excellent inter-personal skills.
- The ability to work constantly and effectively under the pressure of regular deadlines.
- An eye for detail in editing, publishing and proof reading web and editorial content.
- Flexibility in managing the demands of a variety of internal and external customers.
- Experience in a communications or marketing-related discipline.
- Creative flair in managing and improving online and offline editorial content.
- The ability to work as a team player in managing objectives and delivering the Chamber brand.
Desirable Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge:
- A business related degree
- Knowledge of publication editing
Terms and Conditions
Salary (circa £18-£20k)
Office hours are Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. There will be occasions when the position requires out of office hours working early mornings, evenings and weekends.
Holiday entitlement will be 25 days plus statutory holidays, which can be taken as personal holidays. The holiday year runs from 1 January. This will be pro rata to the number of hours worked.
Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce operates a Group Personal Pension Scheme provided by Standard Life; you will be able to join the scheme after completing a three-month period. The Chamber will contribute a certain percentage of salary depending on a salary grading structure (normally 6%). The Chamber of Commerce also operates a Death in Service Scheme.
